La Voile, “the sail” in French, is an authentic French brasserie and an import from the South of France. Founded in 1947, and known as “La Voile au Vent” (The Sail in the Wind), it was one of the oldest & most appreciated restaurants in Cannes.
Those authentic influences and traditions have been brought over from France, from the zinc bar, the tables and chairs, the wooden wine fridge (an old Butcher’s fridge), the marble console, the vintage chandeliers, sailing pictures, the entrance door… even the staff!

1855’s wine list is comprised of more than 250 different varieties of French wine, not only from Bordeaux, but from across France. In addition to the well-known classics on the list at 1855, our sommelier discovered wines from boutique, small batch vineyards that you are sure to enjoy. For those who want to deepen their oenological knowledge, we host a variety of tastings, classes, and special wine events.
The décor will immerse you in the world of wine, with chairs crafted by a local carpenter out of wine barrels, tables made from wooden wine case, and wine themed art hanging on the wall, making wine the centerpiece of your experience.
The 1855 Bar à Vin also features traditional French cuisine, served primarily in the form of delicious small plates, thus presented in a more casual and shareable way than at a traditional restaurant. Moreover, we also offer full course menus for those who want to stay for dinner. 1855’s relaxing, casual, and intimate atmosphere is the perfect gathering spot for family and friends.
