Where is the Newbury Guest House?

In the heart of historic Back Bay. Our address is 261 Newbury Street, cross streets are Fairfield and Gloucester Street. Newbury Street runs parallel to Boylston Street and Commonwealth Avenue.

What is nearby in the Back Bay?

Newbury Street is the premier shopping street in Boston. This fashionable section of town bustles with art galleries, restaurants and specialty boutiques. Historic Copley Square and the scenic Charles River Esplanade are only a few blocks away. Walk to Fenway Park, Prudential Center, Boston Public Garden, Symphony Hall, Beacon Hill, Downtown Crossing and more! The Green Line and the Orange Line (on the subway or "T") put the rest of Boston within easy access. Both lines have stops in Back Bay that are just steps away from the Newbury Guest House.

How is it different from other downtown or Back Bay Boston hotels?

We offer an historic feel with modern amenities. The Newbury Guest house provides excellent value and high quality in a unique guest house setting. With our elegant, historic surroundings, bay windows, tasteful federal-style furniture, hardwood floors, and genuine oriental rugs in every room, you'd never guess we're considered one of the more inexpensive Boston hotels.

Is it really a historic Boston hotel?

Absolutely. The Newbury Guest House is nothing like an anonymous chain hotel. You'll be staying in a row of renovated single family Victorian homes, built in the 1870's in the Queen Anne and Ruskin styles. Every guest room has original architectural details.

Is there parking at the hotel?

Yes there is on-site parking at Newbury Guest House. However, availability is limited and parking must be booked at time of reservation. The parking fee for 24hrs is $20. Alternative parking is available a few blocks away from the Guest House for approximately $30 per night.

How do I get to and from the hotel and Boston's Logan Airport?

You may reach the Newbury Guest House by subway or taxi. The taxi fare is between $25-$30. The Subway fare is $1.25/person. Take the Blue Line from the Airport to Government Center. At Government Center, take the Green Line E outbound to the Hynes/ICA stop. Exit the subway station on the Newbury Street side. Walk 2 blocks up Newbury Street. Newbury Guest House is #261 and will be located on the left hand side once you cross over Gloucester Street.

How large is the hotel?

Four stories high, the hotel has 32 rooms, with no two rooms exactly alike. Rooms face either Newbury Street or a tree-lined alley with parking and the rear entrances of other historic homes.

Is the hotel wheelchair accessible?

Yes, and we offer handicapped-accessible rooms.

What time is check-in?

3:00 PM.

What time is check-out?

12 noon.

Are early check-in and late check-out available?

Yes, based on room availability. Please check with us.

Do you have special packages?

Do you have special rates for groups and corporate clients?

Do you allow pets?

Unfortunately we cannot allow pets, but would be happy to recommend a Boston hotel that does.

Do you offer cribs and rollaway beds?

No, but our Bay Window rooms have love seats with single-size pull-out beds. We also have 2 rooms with 2 queen size beds in each.

How many beds are in each room?

Most rooms have one queen-sized bed. We have 2 rooms only with 2 queen beds.

Does the hotel offer dry-cleaning and laundry services?

No. However, laundry & dry cleaning services are available a few doors away. Same day laundry must be dropped off by 8am. You may prepay the cleaners and request delivery to the hotel.

Do you have room service?

No. A wide selection of restaurants is at the doorstep of Newbury Guest House. Many restaurants offer delivery to the hotel.

Do the rooms have TVs?

Yes, each room has cable TV.

Do the rooms have irons and ironing boards?

Yes.

Do the rooms have hair dryers?

Yes.

Is the neighborhood safe?

Yes. The hotel is located in a well-populated, brightly-lit area close to many restaurants and at the center of one of Boston's safest neighborhoods.
